HELP PREVENT WILDFIRES |
||
|
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has seen an increase in wildfires across the county in recent weeks and is asking for your support to help protect our communities, countryside and wildlife. Wildfires can spread very quickly, placing the public, emergency service personnel, homes, businesses and wildlife at serious risk. They often require a significant emergency response and can cause extensive damage to local areas. Recently, officers encountered a group of children lighting a fire on Shoal Hill, Cannock. Thankfully, the fire was extinguished before it spread into nearby woodland and vegetation, preventing what could have become a much more serious incident. How you can help:🔥 Talk to children and young people about the dangers and consequences of setting fires. 🔥 Report concerns if you know someone is deliberately starting fires. Information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. 🔥 Leave BBQs at home. Disposable and portable barbecues should not be used on Cannock Chase, in parks or other open spaces. 🔥 Take litter home and dispose of it responsibly. Glass bottles and other litter can increase the risk of fires during hot weather. 🔥 Call 999 immediately if you see a fire or witness someone deliberately setting one. By working together, we can help prevent wildfires and protect Staffordshire's countryside, wildlife and local communities. Please share this message with family, friends and neighbours. 🚒🌳🔥
